Mary Carneval, DO, FACOS is a General Surgeon in practice since 2011, and has been on staff at Cleveland Clinic Euclid Hospital since 2016. Dr. Carneval serves as Clinical Assistant Professor of General Surgery at Lerner College of Medicine through Case Western Reserve University and Associate Clinical Professor of General Surgery at Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine. She also serves the Cleveland Clinic South Pointe Hospital General Surgery Residency Program as osteopathic program faculty.
Dr. Carneval received her Doctor of Osteopathy degree from Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences in 2006 and went on to complete five years of general surgery residency at Cleveland Clinic South Pointe Hospital. The Weatherhead Coaching Certificate was awarded to Dr. Carneval in 2019 from the Case Western University Weatherhead School of Management. She has been a mentor-coach for the Cleveland Clinic Center of Excellence for Coaching and Mentoring since 2018.
Dr. Carneval has interest in hernia, gallbladder, large and small intestine surgery and acute general surgical disease processes. As an educator and coach, she has served dozens of peers and medical trainees.
In 2023, Dr. Carneval was awarded the Leonard Tow Humanism in Medicine Award from Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine and the Surgery Teaching Faculty of the Year Award from the Cleveland Clinic South Pointe Hospital General Surgery Residency Program. As President of the Cleveland Surgical Society, she received an Innovation Award from the Cleveland Metropolitan School District on behalf of the Society for forming a Mentorship Alliance with high school students at the Cleveland School of Science and Medicine. Dr. Carneval is a Verified Surgeon of Quality with the Abdominal Core Health Quality Collaborative.
Dr. Carneval has been a resident of the Cleveland area for 30 years and enjoys time family and being by the water.
