Valerie Sheridan, D.O., DFACOS, FACS is the current CEO for the ACOS
Dr. Sheridan graduated from Albion College in 1983 with honors receiving a B.A. in Biology. She spent a year studying at the University of Sussex in England. In 1992, she completed a rotating internship and in 1996, completed her general surgery residency at Mt Clemens General Hospital (now McLaren Hospital) in Mt Clemens, Michigan. She maintains board certification in General Surgery by the American Osteopathic Board of Surgery.
Dr. Sheridan was in practice for over twenty years in Michigan, then relocated to Arizona. While practicing at Mountain Vista Medical Center in Mesa, Arizona, she served as the Surgery Department Chair and Physician Advisory Council Representative to the hospital corporation. She began the General Surgery Residency Program and was the first Surgery Program Director.
Dr. Sheridan is a member of the American Osteopathic Association. She served on the Bureau of Osteopathic Specialty Societies, the Bureau of Graduate Medical Education, and the Bureau of Federal Health Policy. Dr. Sheridan is a distinguished fellow of the American College of Osteopathic Surgeons. She served on the ACOS Board of Governors and held every executive position. She was President of the ACOS in 2015-2016. She remains involved and passionate about furthering the education of students, residents, and physicians. Dr. Sheridan is a member and fellow of the American College of Surgeons (ACS). She is a past Vice Chair of the ACGME Osteopathic Recognition Committee and current ex officio of the Surgery Review Committee. Dr Sheridan is a Health Policy Fellow.
Dr. Sheridan is the immediate past Dean for ATSU-SOMA in Mesa, Arizona. She is a member of the Arizona Osteopathic Medical Association.
