Douglas Joyce, D.O, FACOS, DAVBLM obtained a bachelors and masters of science degrees at The University of Michigan and is a graduate of Michigan State College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed an internship and general surgery residency at Lansing General Hospital in Michigan followed by fellowship in adult cardiovascular thoracic surgery at the Cleveland Clinic and adult and pediatric cardiovascular thoracic surgery and at Deborah Heart and Lung Center in Browns mills NJ. He served on the staff at Deborah until 1993 when he relocated to Kalamazoo, Michigan. There he practiced cardiovascular thoracic surgery and level 1 chest and vascular trauma for three years. He relocated his practice to Punta Gorda, Florida in 1996. In Florida, Dr. Joyce had multiple occasions to see patients with severe wounds caused by venous insufficiency. Curative treatment at that time was nonexistent and consisted of Unna boots and compression. His interest in venous disease led to the establishment of the Joyce Vein & Aesthetic Institute in 2000. Dr Joyce treats all aspects of venous disease but specializes in severe venous disease with ulceration. He has performed over 38,000 venous procedures on over 8000 patients from all over the United States and internationally.
