Dr Sanusi MD is an adult and Pediatric Cardiothoracic Surgeon currently practicing at Emory University.
He graduated from the University of Ibadan and interned at the Lagos University teaching hospital Idi Araba. He then proceeded to the United States where he did a general Surgery residency at the Charles R Drew University of Health Sciences in Los Angeles California. He practiced as a general and trauma surgeon at Charles Drew University and later in Nigeria. He returned to the USA for an adult cardiac surgery residency at the State University of New York Brooklyn/Maimonides medical center cardiac program and subsequently did a congenital heart fellowship at the Emory University in Atlanta. After a short period as an Instructor at the University of California San Francisco, he returned to Nigeria.
While back in Nigeria, for 16 years, he worked in several academic and non-academic centers developing open heart surgery programs including Lagos State University teaching hospital LASUTH, University College Hospital (UCH) Ibadan, ABUAD in Ekiti and mostly at Babcock University Ilishan where he has an appointment as a visiting Professor of Surgery. He also practiced cardiac surgery at Evercare hospital, Duchess hospital, Reddington Hospital and First cardiology consultants.
He has recently returned to the Emory University in the USA to obtain more skill and eventually practice as a heart surgeon in the United States.
Dr Sanusi has a passion for what he does, has written articles in multiple peer reviewed journals and is married with Children.
