Sherman N. Leis, D.O., F.A.C.O.S. is Professor and Chairman, Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and is the Founder and former Director of Residency Training in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. He is Board Certified in General Surgery and Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and subspecializes in transgender surgery. Dr. Leis is Founder and former Director of the Philadelphia Center for Transgender Surgery. He is a recipient of the Presidential Citation of the American Osteopathic Association as well as the Orel F. Martin Medal of the American Osteopathic College of Surgeons for his pioneering efforts in the establishment of the specialty of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery in the Osteopathic profession, the development of the profession's first residency training program in this specialty, and the opening of many doors locally, nationally, and internationally for osteopathic surgeons. He has trained many surgeons in Plastic Surgery and Transgender Surgery who are currently practicing across the United States and abroad.
