Dr. Andrew Dennis has had a storied career as a leader in academic trauma surgery, law enforcement and in the entertainment industry. He currently chairs of the Division of Resuscitative and Pre-Hospital Traumatology at the historic Cook County Trauma Burn & Unit in Chicago Il. He is an Associate Professor at of Surgery at Rush University Medical College and serves as the Chair of the Department of Surgery at Midwestern University College of Osteopathic Medicine. Dr. Dennis is an accomplished speaker, educator, author and an extensively published researcher with a focus on injury management and prevention, first responder mental health and wellness, and response and preparedness to disaster. Dr. Dennis is a twenty-five-year veteran paramedic and sworn police officer having served many communities throughout his career. He is currently the Chief Medical Officer (sworn) and Statewide EMS System Medical Director for the Illinois State Police, and team surgeon for the Northern Illinois Police Alarm System SWAT team. Dr. Dennis also serves as a Trauma Medical Director for the Chicago Fire Department. Outside of clinical medicine, Dr. Dennis has founded several companies and has worked as a consultant and legal expert to various industries including pharma, tech and entertainment. He and his wife Melissa have a long standing career in film and television as the Executive Medical Advisors and Associate Producers for the prime-time NBC “Chicago One” series including Chicago Med, Fire, and PD as well as many other network and studio TV and film productions.
