Learning Objectives:

• Understand the process and dangers of the incremental violation of safety best practices (normalization of deviance) and defend against this process.
• Understand the criticality of empowering their teams to engage in ‘courageous conversations’, i.e., ensuring an environment where everybody is not only encouraged, but required to bring their concerns and ideas to the table.
• Understand that individual responsibilities of ‘see something-say something’ in hazardous work environments are absolute. They are not mitigated by the local presence of others who have greater seniority or job longevity.
